LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Adapted from Inspire Justice land acknowledgement

The U.S. is built on occupied and stolen land. I must honor the indigenous people who have history, traditions, stories of resistance, languages, and creation stories born of the land.

I was born, raised and currently live & work on land that is the traditional and unceded territory of the Gabrieleño-Tongva, Chumash, and Tataviam People of modern-day Southern California;

I also acknowledge the many displaced indigenous people and tribes from across the Americas who live on new land carrying their traditions and histories with them.

I honor and acknowledge the land and those who have come before me.

Not only through these words but also through my actions and daily work.

I hope to use each day to right the wrongs committed against both the land and the indigenous peoples of the Americas.
