Mindful Human

Daniel has noticed that when he’s engaged with mindfulness practices, life is better! His current practices include meditation, yoga & Getting Things Done, or GTD, a method of tracking commitments that helps the mind stay clear, creative & present.

He also loves writing songs, running barefoot, seeing oak trees & coyotes, watching crows relate to each other, hearing the stories of loved ones over and over again and discovering something new every time, his nieces & nephew & everyone in all the families & circles & communities he’s a part of, Celebration Spiritual Center and their ever-unfolding encouragement to be love & expand love & create from love, discovering new music, making meaning with a sense of the sacred, taking naps, laughing, healing, growing and practicing how to live awake, more & more, day by day, moment by moment.

We don't meditate to become good meditators. We meditate to be more awake in our lives.”

Land Acknowledgement

As a white man with a home base in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County, I acknowledge the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles basin and So. Channel Islands). I pay my respects to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.

This land acknowledgement is adapted from Mapping Indigenous LA and the UCLA Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy. The mountain in the photo, Mt. Baldy, is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, the highest point in Los Angeles County, and is considered by some to be sacred.

Anti-Racist Practice

Daniel’s mission is to work in coalition with his political homes AWARE-LA and White People 4 Black Lives as well as in solidarity with Black-led movements to end white supremacy & patriarchy for the sake of liberation for all people on the planet.

“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”
