Current Projects

Daniel’s work includes both solo & collaborative projects. His current solo project & obsession is a half-hour comedy about whiteness and end-of-life care; and his collaborative projects include a one-hour drama about immigrant detention, mass incarceration & rebellion, as well as an episodic, animated kids show about the science and practice of happiness.

The Writers’ Room

As a member of a writing team, Daniel brings a mindful presence, a practice of listening, and a  joy in collaboration that grows out of his unique experience of being an end-of-life care physician. Having worked on many teams and having facilitated many family meetings in end-of-life situations, Daniel brings a capacity to hold space for difficult conversations, be present with grief, and be vulnerable when it is called for. As a practicing anti-racist, Daniel brings a commitment to contribute to a healthy, brave & creative space.

As a way to initiate his own accountability, he has drafted and signed a White Writer Commitment, a working document that has grown out of his collaborations and that is intended to evolve over time. Daniel invites other writers to check out the commitment and send him a message with feedback, comments or questions about it; white writers specifically are invited to join Daniel in this commitment and then send him a message about how it affects you, your relationships, your writing or your writing process. He’d love to hear your thoughts & build community.

“This is vulnerability…. Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat, it’s understanding the necessity of both; it’s engaging. It’s being all in.”
